The Death Penalty

Today, I read an article on the Indianapolis Star talking about the death penalty needing more money to be able to pay for it. It said that most likely, we will just pay more money for capital punishment rather than abolishing it and saving money.

In my opinion, I think that capital punishment should be banned everywhere. I think that it makes more sense to have someone suffer for the rest of their lives in prision than for someone to suffer only for a short time. Also, according to the article, money will be saved if we ban the death penalty. What do you think about this? Should we ban capital punishment? Give me your reasons why or why not it should be banned.

  1. I agree. I think it should be banned. A lifetime of punishment is much more fitting than a short time of punishment and then just ending their life. Plus, I don't believe in ending someone's life simply for a punishment. That person still has the right to live; however, the life he's living should not be very pleasant.

  2. I think it should not be banned all together everywhere but I think it should not be as open as it is now. More specific guidelines should be set.

  3. I believe capital punishment should be allowed in certain situations like an act of terrorism, however for commmiting a crime such as murder I do not believe capitol punishment is the right approach. Lifetime in jail would probably be more appropriate. I think that their are some men in this world that are too dangerous to be allowed to live and that putting them down in a effort save innocent lives is the right way to go about.

  4. I think it should it should be banned. A life in prison is way worse of a punishment than the death penalty. However im not sure how were saving money paying for someone to live in prison their whole rather than a shot in the arm.
